About The Position

The Social Skills Assistant (SSA) is the first point of contact for families at KEBM, responsible for setting up the environment, running open play sessions, and greeting children. This role is designed as the first step in a 14-step clinical pipeline, offering a clear path for career advancement within the company. KEBM is an ABA therapy company with multiple clinics, utilizing a proprietary S.O.C.I.A.L. P.O.D.S. methodology that integrates social skills and behavior intervention in a structured group setting. The company serves a diverse client base, including insurance-funded, private pay, open play, and camp participants, emphasizing clinical quality and employee support. The SSA role involves supporting pod facilitators, running open play and camp programs, building rapport with clients, maintaining the clinic space, collecting data, and learning the field through shadowing and potential RBT certification support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • No prior certification required.
  • Naturally good with children: patient, playful, and calm.
  • Desire for a career in ABA, viewing the SSA role as a launching pad.
  • Belief that every client deserves the same quality of care.
  • Ability to be physically active: setup, cleanup, active pod support, quick transitions.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to behaviors including elopement, aggression (hitting, kicking, spitting, throwing), and self-injury.
  • Capacity (time, skill, emotional bandwidth, physical readiness) for the role.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with children (camp counselor, preschool, tutoring, youth programs).
  • Coursework in psychology, education, or behavioral science.
  • Bilingual (Spanish).
  • Direct experience with neurodiverse individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Support pod facilitators during group sessions, including preparing materials, managing transitions, delivering reinforcement, and maintaining group dynamics.
  • Run open play and camp programming (spring break, winter break, summer, and seasonal camps) as a form of social skills work in a playful format.
  • Build rapport with all clients, regardless of funding source or program type, ensuring consistent energy, respect, and quality of care.
  • Maintain the clinic environment, including sensory room setup, materials preparation, supply tracking, and cleanup.
  • Collect baseline observations and data under supervisor direction during open play and group sessions.
  • Shadow RBTs, Lead RBTs, and Program Supervisors to learn the field and prepare for RBT certification if desired.
