About The Position

The Social Skills Assistant (SSA) is the first point of contact for families at KEBM, responsible for setting up the environment, running open play sessions, and greeting children. This role is designed as the first step in a 14-step clinical pipeline, emphasizing that entry-level positions are valued and offer a clear path for growth. KEBM is an ABA therapy company founded in 2016, operating five clinics across Southern California and Georgia. They utilize a proprietary S.O.C.I.A.L. P.O.D.S. methodology, which is a group ABA therapy model focused on social skills, behavior intervention, and individualized goals within a structured group dynamic. The company serves a diverse client base, including insurance-funded, private pay, open play, and camp participants, and is committed to providing high-quality clinical care without compromising profit. Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • No prior certification required
  • Naturally good with children: patient, playful, and calm.
  • Desire for a career in ABA, viewing the SSA role as a launching pad.
  • Belief that every client deserves the same quality of care.
  • Ability to be physically active: standing, walking, sitting on the floor, transitioning between activities.
  • Crisis readiness: ability to respond appropriately to behaviors including elopement, aggression (hitting, kicking, spitting, throwing), and self-injury.
  • Willingness to be trained and have supervisory backup for challenging behaviors.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with children (e.g., camp counselor, preschool, tutoring, youth programs).
  • Coursework in psychology, education, or behavioral science.
  • Bilingual (Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Support pod facilitators during group sessions by preparing materials, managing transitions, delivering reinforcement, and helping maintain group dynamics.
  • Run open play and camp programming, including spring break, winter break, summer, and other seasonal KEBM camps, delivering social skills work in a playful format.
  • Build rapport with all clients, regardless of their funding source or participation type (insurance-funded, private pay, open play, or camp).
  • Maintain the clinic environment by setting up the sensory room, preparing materials, tracking supplies, and performing cleanup.
  • Collect baseline observations and data under supervisor direction during open play and group sessions.
  • Shadow RBTs, Lead RBTs, and Program Supervisors to learn the field on the job.
  • Prepare for RBT certification if desired, with KEBM's support.
