The Social Intelligence Manager connects social signals to human behavior, identifies meaningful shifts, and turns community insights into actionable direction for marketing, creative, and product teams. The role monitors social conversations to help manage emerging issues and opportunities and deepen marketing’s understanding of cultural shifts. It investigates online communities, subcultures, and platform behaviors to explain the context behind social data. The position leads day-to-day operations of a global, 24/7 social listening program, directing agency and vendor partners and overseeing monitoring, triage, and real-time community engagement for cultural moments, positive mentions, brand safety issues, and emerging risks. The manager works with internal and external partners to use AI and automation to scale listening systems and improve processes. Insights into positive and negative signals—including recurring needs, friction, workarounds, and unexpected product uses—are developed with product partners to inform decisions and long-term roadmaps. The role also contributes to Google brand channel programming priorities, owned social strategy, and content, campaign, and channel briefs. Success requires analytical excellence, storytelling ability, cultural curiosity, and operational leadership. The manager must understand how platform mechanics shape participation and distribution and distinguish supported findings from interpretations requiring further investigation. Individual pay depends on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The listed U.S. compensation is $171,000–$247,000, plus a 20% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
