About The Position

As a member of Apple’s Low Power group within Silicon Technologies, the SoC Power Flow Methodology Engineer helps deliver technology and capabilities for low-power chip design. The role develops and enhances low-power flows, giving designers new power-domain capabilities for future chips. The engineer delivers automated solutions for the Silicon Engineering Power team and contributes to the architecture, implementation, and verification of low-power design and verification flows. The work includes creating flows and tools for power analysis, optimization, and verification that may be used during RTL construction and verification, synthesis, or place and route (P&R). The role also involves communicating with design teams to answer questions about materials and drive issues to resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • At least 3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Good understanding of VLSI designs and SoC design flows.
  • Strong scripting skills and ability to apply low-power domain knowledge to software solutions.
  • Strong background in flow development and/or object-oriented language algorithm design, such as Python, C++, or Java.
  • Solid understanding and proven track record using modern software testing and development practices.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Tcl or Perl.
  • Experience with EDA tools.
  • GUI development experience.
  • Knowledge of low-power concepts such as UPF and low-power design.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance low-power design flows.
  • Deliver automated solutions and capabilities for the Silicon Engineering Power team.
  • Contribute to the architecture, implementation, and verification of low-power design and verification flows.
  • Develop flows and tools for power analysis, optimization, and verification, potentially used in RTL construction and verification, synthesis, or P&R.
  • Help shape low-power methodologies across future technologies.
  • Communicate with the design team, answer questions about materials, and drive issues to resolution.
