About The Position

Copper Mountain Resort is seeking a Snowmaking Level 1 for the Winter 26/27 season. This seasonal position is responsible for carrying out assignments from the crew foreman, focusing on making quality snow in the highest volumes possible. The role requires knowledge of the snowmaking system's operations and maintenance, as well as the ability to operate and maintain department equipment and tools. This involves working 12-hour shifts in a challenging outdoor environment and maintaining communication with the foreman and controller. The position also includes performing necessary record-keeping and understanding the theoretical workings of the snowmaking system, including potential high voltage dangers. The snowmaker will operate equipment such as snow guns, snow cats, and snowmobiles safely and responsibly. Maintenance projects will also be assigned. This role functions as an ambassador for Copper Mountain, modeling the company culture and striving to exceed guest expectations.

Requirements

  • Able to perform in severe or inclement outdoor conditions for sustained periods.
  • Able to lift 75 lbs.
  • High School or equivalent
  • Must have a valid US Driver’s license
  • Proficient skier/rider
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Nice To Haves

  • Snowmaking experience preferred (1-2 years)

Responsibilities

  • Follow foreman’s direction in order to carry out the shift flight plan.
  • Perform all tasks involved with snowmaking in a safe, conscientious and production-minded manner.
  • Includes 12 hour shifts in a challenging outdoor environment.
  • Maintain close communication with foreman and controller.
  • Perform all necessary record keeping.
  • Accountable for an understanding of how, in theory, the snowmaking system works.
  • Perform operation of all equipment, snow guns, snow cats, snowmobiles, and all system components in a safe and responsible manner according to company and department procedures as outlined in handbook.
  • Perform maintenance projects as assigned.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Functions as an ambassador of Copper Mountain, modeling and sharing the Copper “culture” with our guests and employees.
