About The Position

Copper Mountain Resort is seeking a Snowmaking Controller for the Winter 26/27 season. This role is responsible for the continuous monitoring and efficient operation of the snowmaking plant’s process control system to ensure optimal production and adherence to safety standards. The position involves operating and monitoring equipment, communicating with crew members regarding resource availability, making snow according to established practices, training junior snowmakers, operating vehicles, performing maintenance, and ensuring proper slope marking. The role also requires assisting other departments, performing other assigned duties, and potentially working overtime. As a seasonal position, hours may fluctuate based on business volume. The Snowmaking Controller will act as an ambassador for Copper Mountain, embodying its culture and striving to exceed guest expectations.

Requirements

  • Able to perform in severe and inclement conditions and terrain for sustained periods.
  • Able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must have a valid US Driver’s license
  • High School or equivalent
  • Must be proficient skier/rider
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering or related background helpful
  • Snowmaking experience one to two years
  • Snow cat experience helpful
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Colorado Snowmobile Certified

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor pump and compressor systems.
  • Monitor the ongoing snowmaking process control system in order to obtain the most efficient operation and productive results.
  • Communicate and instruct the various crewmembers with respect to available resources (air and water) in order to maintain maximum production goals.
  • Make snow according to all standard operating practices and safety procedures as instructed and or outlined in the manuals set forth by Copper Mountain Resort.
  • Offer continual training and assistance of the standard operational and safety practices to the Level I Snowmakers.
  • Operate all transportation vehicles as per the standard operating procedures.
  • Undertake general building maintenance and housekeeping on a daily basis.
  • Maintain snowmaking equipment as directed.
  • Ensure slopes are properly marked and/or signed when snowmaking is in progress on open slopes.
  • Assist in effective communication with the other departments, when required.
  • Assist with all other duties assigned.
  • Overtime may be required.
