About The Position

The Lake Louise Ski Resort is seeking a Snowmaking Control Operator for the Winter 25/26 season. This role acts as the central contact for the snowmaking team, monitoring the operation of vital machinery for snow production, such as industrial water pumps and air compressors. The operator will also maintain logs of all activity and information during the snowmaking operation. Successful candidates will receive hands-on training. The snowmaking season typically runs from October 7th, 2025, to late December 2025, with potential for extended opportunities.

Requirements

  • Must have at least an ‘Intermediate-level’ or better ski/snowboard ability
  • Flexible, and able to reason quickly while remaining calm under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Computer literate

Nice To Haves

  • Previous machine/sled operation experience is an asset but not required
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations is considered an asset but not required
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel an asset

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all shift communications, and assist the Foreman and Supervisors with the management of equipment
  • Monitor and perform regular inspections on air compressors, water pumps, snowmaking lines, and other infrastructure within the Control building
  • Monitor air and water pressures within snowmaking lines
  • Monitor and record snowmaking gun locations and hydrants in use
  • Relay work orders, messages, and weather, hazard and accident information to or from work crews, Supervisors, and Foreman using telephone/email or radio communication.
  • Track/analyze snowmaking data to ensure accurate records for reports
  • Maintain an organized, tidy and safe Control building and equipment storage areas
  • Perform general maintenance on snowmaking equipment (guns, hoses, etc.)
  • Adhere to department procedures and policies
