About The Position

The Smart Home Consultant is part of ADT’s Field Operations team, which delivers installation, service, troubleshooting, and customer education for smart security solutions. The role combines hands-on installation with consultative sales, guiding residential customers in designing home security and smart home setups that fit their needs. Consultants install and activate products, integrate them with customers’ existing systems, explain the app and product features, and provide proactive support to build customer confidence.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; additional licensing may be required depending on location.
• Strong customer-focused communication skills.
• Technical aptitude with smart device ecosystems and connected technologies.
• Ability to understand how multiple products interact within a home network.
• Ability to climb, lift 10 or more pounds, and work indoors and outdoors in varied conditions.
• Ability to adapt to new tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Deliver in-home consultations and assessments.
• Recommend smart home and security solutions based on customer goals.
• Install and activate security hardware, cameras, IoT devices, and smart home products.
• Integrate new products with customers’ existing setups.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical questions.
• Complete customer onboarding and product education.
• Build long-term customer confidence through proactive support.
• Identify upsell opportunities that strengthen home protection.
• Advise customers on system design and setup to support their safety goals.
