About The Position

This role is responsible for learning to maintain sharp tools for precise job tasks. The primary duties include making precision cuts to open hides, removing hides from the rump, and skinning the sides of sows to optimize carcass yield. The position requires operating powered tools and adhering to safety, food safety, and company policies. Responsibilities also include setting up the work area with necessary equipment, monitoring the production area for cleanliness, and performing other assigned tasks. The job may involve occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs and requires the ability to complete work cycles in less than 20 seconds, and in some cases, less than 10 seconds. The role also involves working with machinery and chemicals, cleaning the work area at the end of shifts, and performing tasks for up to 12 hours on a concrete floor, which may include standing, stooping, walking, climbing, and lifting. Additionally, the position requires working in temperatures of 35 degrees Fahrenheit or less for a minimum of 8 hours and in a wet environment.

Requirements

  • Must adhere to good safety practices, food safety policies, and company policies.
  • Must be willing and able to complete work cycles in less than 20 seconds.
  • Must be willing and able to work on and around machinery and chemicals.
  • Must be willing and able to perform tasks for periods up to 12 hours on concrete floor, including standing, stooping, walking, climbing, and lifting.
  • Must be willing and able to work in temperatures less than or equal to 35 degrees Fahrenheit for a minimum of 8 hours.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a wet environment.
  • Must be willing and able to complete cycles in less than 10 seconds.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain sharp tools to perform job tasks correctly.
  • Make precision cuts to open the hide on the right side.
  • Remove the hide from the rump.
  • Skin the sides of the sow to achieve desired carcass yield.
  • Operate a powered tool to perform job tasks.
  • Set up the work area with all needed equipment.
  • Monitor the production area for trash and food debris on the floor.
  • Perform various other tasks as assigned by Lead person, Supervisor or Superintendent.
  • Clean up the area at the end of the production shift, including sweeping, picking up debris from the floor, and spraying work areas.
  • Complete work cycles in less than 20 seconds.
  • Complete cycles in less than 10 seconds.
