About The Position

The Skilled Technician performs vehicle repair and maintenance in accordance with dealer and factory standards. The role builds Customer loyalty by developing trust and confidence in AutoNation as a caregiver for vehicle safety and reliability. Technicians work from repair orders, diagnose malfunctions, conduct inspections, document work, communicate with Parts and Service teams, and keep current with factory technical information and training.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience as an automotive technician.
• Automotive technical training, which varies based on store needs.
• Attention to detail.
• Organization and follow-up skills.
• Valid in-state driver's license and an acceptable, safe driving record that is maintained.
• Passion for cars and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle repair and maintenance work listed on repair orders efficiently and accurately in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Communicate regularly with the Parts Department and Service Advisors to manage production and Customer communication.
• Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and perform repairs when authorized by the Customer.
• Conduct multi-point inspections and make appropriate recommendations to support vehicle safety and reliability.
• Document work performed on each vehicle on the repair order.
• Maintain an inventory of normal Technician tools that are not inventoried by the Service department as special tools.
• Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins and participate in factory-sponsored training classes as appropriate.
• Provide an exceptional customer experience to drive loyalty.
