About The Position

The Single Moms Community Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Singe Moms Community Program (“SMCP”) team in providing education and family support to single mothers to enhance their quality of parenting. The program aims to help single mothers within identified communities/ geographic areas to increase their understanding of child development and the emotional needs of their children, improve attachment, reduce behavioral problems, and therefore increase parenting skills, promote safety, well-being, and permanency of the children within the home. This position will facilitate the program in collaboration with staff and community partners with fidelity via evidence-based models.

Requirements

  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Two years of professionally related experience is required.
  • Must possess a current driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record (6 points or less).

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish is desirable.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in a field such as early childhood education, social work, psychology, or human services as well as experience working in child welfare, diverse populations and/or marginalized groups.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in planning and facilitation of the evidence-based model curriculums that address the intellectual, emotional, developmental, cultural, social, and physical needs of the single mom and her children.
  • Work cooperatively with team members to coordinate program participant decisions, admissions paperwork and orientation.
  • Develop and oversee plans of service, money management plan, service reviews and maintain participant files.
  • Assist single moms in improving the family support system by increasing protective factors and enhancing access to concrete support through tangible goods or referral services.
  • Provide for special needs of client families as prescribed by plan of service.
  • Coordinate weekly classes to include arranging meals and childcare.
  • When appropriate facilitate/teach classes in various topics including Parenting, Money Management, Job Skills, Health Issues and other topics encouraging personal and spiritual growth, including the New Start curriculum.
  • Coordinate, support, and assist in SMCP special events and holidays to include the streamlining of Christmas efforts; and maintain schedule of program events.
  • When requested host volunteers, tour groups and visitors and give presentations to churches, civic groups, etc.
  • Support Director in the recruitment and management of mentors and volunteers.
  • Participate in training opportunities to stay abreast of innovative ideas and tools available in the field.
  • Actively recruit additional single moms to be included on a wait list to ensure annual goals of moms and children served are achieved.
  • Engage single moms in a parent advisory committee and other leadership opportunities to enhance their personal development as well as program development.
  • All other duties as assigned.
