About The Position

Jewish Collaborative Services (JCS) is seeking an energetic, mission-driven Volunteer & Internship Program Coordinator to lead and grow volunteer and internship opportunities that directly impact the lives of older adults, families, and community members throughout Rhode Island. This role serves as a bridge between JCS programs, community partners, volunteers, interns, and those who rely on JCS services. The Volunteer & Internship Program Coordinator is a dynamic, people-centered member of JCS's External Relations team, overseeing all aspects of volunteer and intern engagement, including recruitment, onboarding, training, placement, supervision, recognition, and retention. The Coordinator also provides direct oversight and support to volunteers in the Friendly Visitors Program, aiming to reduce social isolation and foster meaningful connections for older adults. In partnership with the Director of External Relations, this position supports communications, outreach, and marketing initiatives through content creation, graphic design, storytelling, and community engagement efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, Education, Social Work, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers, interns, programs, community engagement initiatives, or customer-facing services.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and common communication platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in nonprofit, human services, healthcare, education, or aging services.
  • Graphic design experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
  • Experience managing volunteer management databases or CRM systems.
  • Familiarity with social media content creation and digital marketing.
  • Knowledge of community resources and volunteer engagement best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow volunteer and internship opportunities.
