Apple Inc. is hiring a Silicon Prototype Engineer for work in Cupertino, California, and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. The role builds and sets up emulation models for SoC designs at full-chip and block levels using Verilog RTL. It involves developing and modifying RTL, transactors, assertions, coverage, and scripts that support emulation model builds and runtime. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional engineering teams to develop emulation features, debug issues, optimize performance, and manage emulator hardware resources.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer and Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience and/or education in digital logic design and debugging, including writing, implementing, and analyzing RTL code.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture, including pipeline stages and memory subsystems.
  • Experience using Verilog, SystemVerilog, and VHDL in bringing up and/or debugging multiple chips.
  • Experience developing transactors using C/C++ and SystemVerilog DPI.
  • Experience using Python, Perl, TCL, and Makefile scripting languages.
  • Experience working with emulation technology.
  • Experience using waveform debug tools including Verdi and Indago.
  • Experience working with synthesized Verilog netlists and test flows, including scan dump and memory dump.

Responsibilities

  • Build and set up emulation models for SoC designs at full-chip and block levels using Verilog RTL.
  • Write and modify Verilog RTL, C/C++ DPI transactors, SystemVerilog assertions, and coverage.
  • Use Python, Perl, and Makefile scripts to maintain and create flows for emulation model builds and runtime.
  • Collaborate with CAD, design verification, silicon validation, DFT, and software teams to understand requirements and develop emulation features and capabilities.
  • Debug and root-cause bugs using bus and signal monitors, waveforms, logs, and tools including Verdi and Indago.
  • Develop and test enhancements and performance optimizations in collaboration with EDA vendors.
  • Work with CAD, design-for-test, and infrastructure teams to optimize emulator hardware resource utilization and reservations.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to participate in discretionary employee stock programs, including restricted stock unit awards and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
