Laser Prototype Engineer
About The Position
Attalon Inc. is hiring a Laser Prototype Engineer for its Defense Technology Development group in Bloomfield, Connecticut. The role involves building and testing new laser designs in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The engineer will work with optical, electrical, and mechanical engineers and should be detail-oriented, with experience building and testing fiber lasers. Fiber handling skills, including splicing and cleaving, are essential. The position also involves documenting technical progress and test results, drafting work instructions, and helping transition work to production. Candidates must meet applicable U.S. export control requirements: they must be classified as a “U.S. Person” under applicable regulations or be eligible for authorization under a U.S. government export license.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or a combination of work experience and schooling in lieu of a degree.
- Experience building fiber lasers and working with fiber components.
- Experience testing fiber lasers and fiber components.
- Knowledge of fiber and fiber-component handling and splicing processes.
- Fiber handling skills, including splicing and cleaving.
- Must be classified as a “U.S. Person” under applicable regulations or be eligible for authorization under a U.S. government export license.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with large and small fibers.
- Ability to work independently and make design decisions.
