Silicon Prototype Engineer

Apple•Austin, TX

About The Position

Apple Inc. has an available Silicon Prototype Engineer position in Austin, Texas. The GPU Silicon Prototype Engineer runs specified tests on appropriate emulation builds, debugs issues, and reports status. The role includes participating in system debugging by capturing waveforms and writing triggers; architecting emulation builds; bringing up and supporting regular emulation model builds; and debugging build issues. The engineer supports Software Verification by interfacing emulation with virtual systems and simulation environments and uses emulation to accelerate silicon bring-up. The position works with vendor field service and application engineers to address simulation and emulation hardware and software issues, and collaborates with pre-silicon verification teams to develop and implement support plans. Responsibilities also include architecting and implementing transactors between software test benches and emulation hardware, exploring and developing technologies and methodologies for simulation, emulation, and hardware acceleration applications, and creating automation infrastructure to improve the efficiency of emulation model builds and test regressions. The position is 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • Write synthesizable Verilog or SystemVerilog HDL code to implement hardware test bench features.
  • Write C and C++ code to implement performant software test bench features and execution infrastructure.
  • Write code in languages such as Python, Ruby, or Perl to implement automation infrastructure in simulation and emulation environments.
  • Write trigger logic in proprietary emulation tool languages to isolate failures in emulation regressions and capture signal waveforms for failure analysis.
  • Use waveform viewers for first-line signal analysis and triage.
  • Use test bench monitor/tracker logs to aid hardware failure analysis.
  • Use revision control software, including GitLab, GitHub, and Perforce, to maintain source code.
  • Use EDA CAD tools for emulation and verification in a Unix/Linux environment.
