Silicon CAD Technical Product Manager

Ericsson•Austin, TX

About The Position

The Silicon CAD Technical Product Manager is part of Ericsson Silicon’s Central Engineering Strategy & Operations team. Ericsson Silicon develops ASICs and FPGAs for Ericsson’s telecommunications portfolio. Central Engineering provides the methodologies, tools, and infrastructure needed for silicon development, while Silicon CAD supports engineering teams through shared methodologies, EDA workflows, and automation across R&D sites in Austin, Sweden, and India. The role consolidates engineering needs into a prioritized portfolio of initiatives and translates them into executable plans aligned with ASIC project milestones. It combines program leadership with technical alignment: setting scope, securing delivery commitments, resolving dependencies, and coordinating qualification and adoption. The role owns integrated program execution and adoption coordination within the agreed portfolio. Architects and engineering specialists retain ownership of architecture, implementation, validation, and technical approval; IP and ASIC program managers retain product delivery accountability; infrastructure, security, compliance, and support organizations retain their technical and operational responsibilities. The portfolio includes design and verification methodologies; implementation and signoff; automation and controlled delivery; and the development environment. Success is assessed by delivery of qualified capabilities against project needs, sustained adoption, early resolution of dependencies, and measurable improvements such as better flow reliability, faster engineering turnaround, or reduced duplicated effort.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Background in ASIC/SoC design, verification, Silicon CAD, physical implementation, or related EDA engineering.
  • Demonstrated delivery of cross-functional initiatives from requirements through qualification, release, and adoption.
  • End-to-end understanding of RTL-to-signoff flows, practical expertise in at least one relevant domain, and ability to challenge assumptions and manage cross-flow dependencies.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD, development automation, reproducible workflows, and controlled releases.
  • Ability to translate complex engineering needs into clear priorities, plans, and acceptance criteria; align distributed stakeholders and secure decisions without direct authority.
  • Clear, concise communication with engineering teams, technical leaders, and executive stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coordinating engineering infrastructure, access and security requirements, trade compliance dependencies, EDA vendors, or AI-enabled engineering improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate requirements across IP and SoC teams, agree priorities with CAD leadership and engineering stakeholders, and balance project impact, dependencies, and available capacity.
  • Coordinate requirements, handoffs, rules, waivers, and quality gates across design, verification, back-end, DFX, and support teams; drive decisions and escalate priority, resource, and schedule conflicts with options and consequences.
  • Maintain an integrated roadmap and delivery plan for each agreed initiative, including scope, milestones, acceptance criteria, and risks; agree accountable engineering owners and resource commitments with responsible managers.
  • Coordinate evaluations, representative pilots, and qualification with engineering specialists and EDA vendors; ensure required evidence and technical approvals are complete before release and align deployment with ASIC project needs.
  • Translate engineering needs into agreed actions with infrastructure, security, compliance, and support owners; establish support interfaces, release visibility, and escalation paths without taking ownership of routine operational support.
  • Plan rollout, migration, and recovery with responsible owners; coordinate documentation, knowledge transfer, and team readiness; track adoption, remove barriers, drive reuse and standardization, and feed project learning into the roadmap.
  • Communicate progress, dependencies, risks, and required decisions through relevant CAD and project governance forums; coordinate technical vendor engagement with Sourcing and designated supplier owners.
  • Agree milestones, acceptance criteria, adoption targets, and benefit measures with stakeholders, and assess results against agreed baselines.

Benefits

  • Annual bonus opportunity through a Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan; payouts depend on business and individual performance and applicable eligibility rules.
  • Choice of three medical plan options and a dental plan option, with company credits equal to the cost Ericsson pays toward premiums for the employee and eligible covered dependents.
  • 401(k) plan with an automatic 3% company contribution and matching contributions up to 4% when the employee contributes at least 5% of eligible pay.
  • Basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage, plus short-term and long-term disability coverage, with company credits equal to their cost.
  • Option to participate in Ericsson’s Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation, up to 3 personal days per year, 11 annual holidays, 8 hours of volunteer time, and 80 hours of annual sick time; paid time off is prorated based on start date.
  • Up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
  • Financial wellness programs, educational assistance, matching gifts, and recognition programs.
