About The Position

VPA is hiring full-time Shuttle Drivers for the Upstate Medical University Shuttle Service in Syracuse, New York. Drivers operate local, steady routes transporting hospital employees between parking areas. The position is year-round, with no long shutdowns. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 4:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.; additional weekend hours may be available by choice. Other hours are listed in separate postings. Starting pay is $25 per hour, with weekly pay. Drivers use newer 24-passenger walk-on shuttles that are regularly cleaned and maintained. Full-time employees are eligible for health and dental insurance after 90 days, with costs split 50/50, and paid vacation after one year. Advancement opportunities are available. Requirements

• Must be over 20 years old.
• Customer service experience is required.
• Valid New York Class B or higher CDL with passenger endorsement is required.
• Valid medical card is required.
• Must complete background checks and a driving test.

Responsibilities

• Greet patrons politely and assist them as needed.
• Safely shuttle customers to their destinations.
• Open and close doors for patrons.
• Follow traffic laws and signs to operate shuttles safely.
• Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers, including by radio with management, shuttle drivers, and lot attendants.
• Complete required pre-trip inspections to meet federal and company safety requirements.
• Record passenger counts and trip times.
• Complete paperwork required for daily operations.
• Assist with equipment setup and breakdown, including signs and cones.
• Sweep shuttles and remove debris to maintain cleanliness.
• Communicate shuttle mechanical problems to management.
• Comply with company shuttle-operation procedures.
