About The Position

Historic Tours of America has been contracted by the City of St. Augustine to provide staff and service for the downtown city shuttle. This is a non-spieling role where the driver will have fun driving the downtown connector municipal shuttle. The position requires a good sense of fun, a desire for customer service and hospitality, as well as excellent driving skills as you drive a shuttle on the streets of St. Augustine. The driver will operate a vehicle that is 24 feet to 34 feet in length with passengers on busy public streets multiple times a work shift. The role involves meeting and dealing with the general public and diverse company employees in a prompt, courteous manner, handling stressful situations and difficult people both in person and via the radio while maintaining composure, maintaining radio contact with dispatch, and performing daily interior and exterior vehicle inspections. The driver must be able to read, write, and speak clear English.

Requirements

  • Must have a CDL with Passenger Endorsement.
  • Must have a good sense of fun and desire to provide good customer service.
  • Excellent driving skills.
  • Must be 21 years old.
  • Valid Florida Class C or higher CDL with passenger endorsement required.
  • Acceptable driving record for past three years.
  • Must pass pre-employment MVR/background check and substance abuse testing.
  • Valid DOT physical required.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle that is 24 feet to 34 feet in length in a safe, competent manner on busy public streets or driving on company property.
  • Ability to work independently over long periods of time within the scope of established rules and regulations.
  • Ability to dealing with unpleasant, angry, or discourteous people in a pleasant, calm, courteous manner.
  • Mental attitude required to handle the stress that goes with this job as described.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak clear English in order to communicate with co-workers, general public, law enforcement, and emergency personnel and to complete required paperwork correctly.

Responsibilities

  • Drive in a safe, competent manner a vehicle that is 24 feet to 34 feet in length with passengers on busy public streets multiple times a work shift.
  • Meet and deal with the general public and diverse company employees in a prompt, courteous manner.
  • Handle stressful situations and difficult people both in person and via the radio while maintaining composure in a pleasant, calm, courteous manner.
  • Maintain radio contact with dispatch.
  • Perform an interior and exterior physical inspection of the vehicle daily and accurately complete the departmental documents/forms for inspection.
