About The Position

Arnold Machinery is seeking a Shop Service Tech Apprentice for construction equipment who is eager to learn and develop technical skills. The apprentice works under the supervision of a technician, receiving instruction and daily assignments related to repairing and maintaining customers’ machines. The role offers experience with inspections, basic repairs, parts ordering and inventory maintenance, replacement of faulty parts, engine repairs, and troubleshooting electrical systems. Candidates should be dedicated to developing their skills; familiarity with basic repair and maintenance tasks and manual aptitude are beneficial.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Desire to develop the skills needed to become a technician.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to use basic hand tools.
Ability to safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
General mechanical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
Physically able to lift heavy objects.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with basic repair and maintenance tasks.
Good manual aptitude.

Responsibilities

Follow instructions provided by the supervisor.
Perform basic repairs under the guidance of a technician.
Conduct routine light maintenance, including cleaning and pre-inspecting equipment.
Disassemble, clean, and reassemble heavy equipment.
Assist with shipping and receiving by unloading trucks and checking in merchandise.
Measure, identify, and assess parts for reusability or replacement, and order parts as needed.
Use test and diagnostic equipment to make necessary adjustments to machines and systems.
Perform minor welding, fabrication, and plumbing alignment tasks.
Adapt to varying workloads by assisting in other shop areas as required.
