About The Position

The Shop Support Specialist provides support to U-Haul repair shop personnel while learning shop operations and developing technical skills. The role involves assessing and caring for field vehicles using U-Haul’s proprietary technology, specialized equipment, machinery, and tools. No previous experience is required, and the position offers on-the-job training and opportunities for advancement. The job is located at 1 Cressey Rd, Brunswick, Maine 04011, and is not eligible for employer sponsorship. Applicants must be legally authorized to work without requiring employer sponsorship.

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts, including working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or chemicals. Protective gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields may be required. Physical demands include periods indoors and outdoors while stationary, moving through work areas, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving at least 50 pounds with or without assistance.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to maintain a clean driving record.
• Forklift certified.
• Must be legally authorized to work and must not require employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Use specialized equipment to dismount, balance, and mount tires.
• Maintain and recycle batteries.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Use machinery to turn brake rotors and drums.
• Rebuild trailer components, including brake systems and equalizers.
• Assist shop personnel and willingly help in additional areas as needed, following supervisor directives and guidance.
• Use U-Haul Company’s proprietary technology to assess and care for field vehicles.
