About The Position

The Shop Helper supports U-Haul repair shop personnel, learns shop operations, and helps maintain the company’s trucks and trailers. The role uses U-Haul proprietary technology to assess and care for field vehicles, with opportunities for training and career advancement. No previous experience is required. A paid hands-on working interview and a $100 hiring bonus are offered.

The position involves working around moving parts, machinery, fumes, or chemicals and may require protective clothing or equipment. Physical work includes remaining stationary for extended periods indoors and outdoors, moving through work areas, repositioning to use tools, and moving at least 50 pounds, with or without assistance.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean driving record.
• Forklift certified.

Responsibilities

• Use specialized equipment to dismount, balance, and mount tires.
• Maintain and recycle batteries.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Use machinery to turn brake rotors and drums.
• Rebuild trailer components, including brake systems and equalizers.
• Assist shop personnel and lend assistance in other areas as needed, following supervisor direction and guidance.
• Use U-Haul proprietary technology to assess and care for field vehicles.
