About The Position

Earth Work Solutions is seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to oversee daily shop operations while performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy construction equipment and company vehicles. This is a working foreman position requiring strong mechanical skills and prior leadership experience. Employees in this position are required to provide and maintain their own basic mechanical hand tools necessary to perform assigned job duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment, diesel, or fleet mechanic required.
  • Previous experience in a foreman, lead mechanic, or supervisory role required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong leadership skills with foreman or team lead experience.
  • Advanced mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, heavy equipment, and light-duty vehicles.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic issues.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and service guides.
  • Effective communication with shop staff, operators, and management.
  • Skilled with diagnostic software, telematics, tools, and repair equipment.
  • Proficient with digital work-order or maintenance systems.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must pass pre-employment and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing per company policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school training in diesel technology, heavy equipment repair, or automotive technology preferred.
  • Basic welding, fabrication, and hydraulic hose repair skills preferred.
  • Diesel or Medium/Heavy Truck certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily shop operations, assign work, and prioritize repairs based on equipment needs.
  • Lead, train, and support mechanics and shop personnel.
  • Perform and oversee preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Repair or replace engines, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical, brake, fuel, and related systems.
  • Plan maintenance schedules, track service intervals, coordinate repairs, and help reduce downtime.
  • Work with operations and management to prioritize equipment readiness.
  • Fabricate hydraulic hoses and replace fittings, seals, and related components.
  • Use diagnostic tools, telematics, manuals, and service information to troubleshoot issues.
  • Perform DOT-level inspections when required.
  • Safely use rigging, hoists, cranes, and lifting equipment.
  • Document work performed, parts used, and inspection findings.
  • Assist with parts inventory, ordering, and shop supply management.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop, tools, and equipment.
  • Complete field repairs as needed.
  • Follow all safety policies, including lockout/tagout, PPE, and equipment isolation.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
