About The Position

The Shop & Equipment Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for performing all needed inspections and repairs on heavy construction equipment in a safe, effective manner to ensure that vehicles, tools and equipment are in good working order, and to handle parts inventory. This position will work on other assorted duties that are required to support field staff in the completion of construction projects as assigned, such as vehicle and tool maintenance and repair.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Two (2) or more years’ experience as Shop & Equipment Maintenance Mechanic of an equivalent construction related operation.
  • Proven mechanical problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to effectively multitask.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must possess good communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess good housekeeping skills.
  • Must possess the ability to solve practical problems.
  • Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and scheduled forms.
  • Must have the ability to apply mathematical skills.
  • Must have experience and understanding of the mechanical properties of various construction equipment and vehicles.
  • Must have good organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical Trade School Certifications
  • Three to five (3-5) years’ experience as a Shop & Equipment Maintenance Mechanic or an equivalent heavy truck equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects tools/vehicles-equipment/parts for accuracy and quality (ensure good working specifications) and reports any discrepancies to their immediate supervisor without delay.
  • Ensure company work vehicles, equipment and tools are in good working condition at all times.
  • Promotes good housekeeping jobsite and equipment cleaning standards and procedures at the shop premises at all times.
  • Constructs within specifications and other constraints/limitations a variety of parts to be used in vehicle and equipment repair projects as required.
  • Provides timely maintenance and cleaning of tools, vehicles and equipment as scheduled within operational performance parameters as required
  • Assist in performing daily, monthly, and annual inspections of all tools, vehicles and equipment as required to help the Company and the Warehouse Manager succeed.
  • Assists in acting as “Team Leader” in the absence of Warehouse Manager when required or asked.
  • Make recommendations to the Warehouse Manager in a timely manner of repairs to be done or new vehicle, equipment or tools to be purchased.
  • Maintain a” log” on the condition of tools, vehicles and equipment for current and future needs of projects.
  • Report immediately all machine needs in writing & look up all needed parts.
  • Keep the Warehouse Manager informed of production progress and problem issues in conjunction with meeting scheduled production deadlines and expectations
  • Keep track of issues related to Building/Yard repairs, reports them to the Warehouse Manager and performs the necessary repairs.
