About The Position

The 1st Shift Shipping & Receiving professional loads and unloads trucks for delivery drivers and vendors, ensures quality, and maintains warehouse organization. The team works closely with the delivery and purchasing departments to meet or exceed goals for Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Delivery. The role generally involves completing basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions and/or core knowledge of shop flow. It is based at Plant 1, 3900 N. Comotara, Wichita, Kansas, and is scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• 0–5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Ability to meet or exceed Level 4 (Heavy Work) of a Personal Capacity Profile.
• Adequate manual and finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multilimbed coordination.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and follow instructions presented in written, oral, or diagram form using common-sense understanding.
• Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and using measurements of length, width, height, and weight for basic math computations.
• Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
• Ability to make sound decisions using knowledge, experience, and judgment.
• Ability to lift 100 pounds occasionally and 60 pounds repetitively.
• Ability to stand for sustained periods.
• Ability to push or pull 80 pounds of force.
• Ability to repeatedly climb up and down truck trailers.
• Able to work in temperatures above 100°F and below 32°F.
• Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, internal customers, and/or vendors.
• Must be able to obtain certification to operate all required motorized material-handling and rigging equipment.
• Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications.

Responsibilities

• Pull and assemble orders by reviewing work or shipping orders and other documentation.
• Coordinate and execute material handling.
• Perform quality control inspections.
• Sort and package parts as directed.
• Tag material for proper identification and complete required documentation.
• Complete work order paperwork and documentation.
• Operate a yard truck, forklift, and overhead crane to load and unload trailers.
• Conduct inventory spot checks and daily or ad hoc checks for proper material tagging, as directed.
• Report irregularities to a supervisor for direction.
• Adhere to and ensure compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by a supervisor.
