About The Position

Full Time: Monday-Friday, 3rd Shift, 9:30pm – 6:00am. At Central Plains Steel, we hire Ideal Team Players who are humble, hungry, and smart. The 3rd Shift Shipping & Receiving professionals are responsible for loading and unloading trucks for our delivery drivers and vendors, ensuring quality, and maintaining organization of the warehouse. This team works closely with the delivery and purchasing departments to meet or exceed goals for Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Delivery.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to meet or exceed Level 4 (Heavy Work) of a Personal Capacity Profile.
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multilimbed coordination.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly.
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment.
  • Ability to lift 100 pounds occasionally, 60 pounds repetitively.
  • Ability to stand for sustained periods of time.
  • Ability to push or pull 80 pounds of force.
  • Ability to go up and down off truck trailers repeatedly.
  • Employee is subject to temperatures more than 100 degrees F and below 32 degrees F.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, internal customers and/or vendors.
  • Must be able to obtain a certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
  • Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Warehousing and material handling experience.
  • High School diploma/GED.

Responsibilities

  • Loading and unloading trucks for delivery drivers and vendors.
  • Ensuring quality and maintaining organization of the warehouse.
  • Working closely with delivery and purchasing departments to meet or exceed goals for Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Delivery.
  • Completing basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions and/or core knowledge of shop flow.
  • Pulling and assembling orders based on reviewing work/shipping orders or other documentation.
  • Coordinating and executing material handling.
  • Performing quality control inspections.
  • Sorting and packaging parts as directed.
  • Tagging material for proper identification and completing all required documentation.
  • Completing work order paperwork/documentation.
  • Operating yard truck, forklift, and overhead crane for the purpose of loading and unloading trailers.
  • Spot checking inventory and completing daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of material, as directed.
  • Reporting any irregularities to supervisor for direction.
  • Adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Performing all other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.
