About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Railcar employee transfers incoming ingredients from tankers and/or railcars to storage tanks, cleans and sanitizes tankers and/or railcars, and fills totes with raw goods. The position is based full-time at the Fort Smith Warehouse, 1301 North 4th St. The role is hourly and non-exempt, pays $16.50 per hour, and reports to the Department Supervisor. The first-shift schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; overtime is required based on production needs. The employee collects ingredient samples for laboratory analysis, connects hoses and operates pumps and valves to transfer ingredients, and uses an automated tank-cleaning system to rinse, wash, and sanitize tanker or railcar interiors. The employee also seals vent holes and washes the exterior of tankers or railcars and pumping equipment. Successful performance requires the ability to follow instructions and procedures, work safely and productively, adapt to changes, maintain regular attendance, complete tasks dependably, and ask for or offer help when needed. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, English-language abilities, basic arithmetic and reasoning skills, and basic computer knowledge. The work involves frequent lifting and standing or walking throughout the shift, along with exposure to wet or humid conditions, machinery, elevated or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, outdoor weather, and usually loud noise.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
Basic computer knowledge and ability to input data into a computer.
Ability to lift 50 pounds 50–100 times during a shift.
Ability to stand and/or walk for the duration of the shift.
Ability to use hands to finger, grip, handle, or feel and to reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; and, occasionally, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Visual abilities including close, distance, and color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Ability to follow policies and procedures, meet productivity standards, adapt to frequent changes or delays, maintain regular and punctual attendance, and complete tasks dependably.

Responsibilities

Collect ingredient samples from tanker or railcar vent holes and pour them into bottles for laboratory analysis.
Connect hoses between tanker or railcar sanitary valves and storage tanks, operate pumps and valves to transfer ingredients, and stop the pump when the transfer is complete.
Disconnect hoses and connect the tank-cleaning system nozzle to the tanker or railcar.
Operate equipment that automatically rinses, washes, and sanitizes tanker or railcar interiors.
Remove the cleaning nozzle and seal the vent hole.
Wash the exterior of tankers or railcars and the pumping equipment.
Fill totes with raw goods.
Follow safety procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions.
Complete work productively and on time, follow instructions and management direction, and maintain regular and punctual attendance.
