Shipping & Receiving Manager
About The Position
The Shipping & Receiving Manager oversees daily shipping, receiving, warehouse, and inventory operations at Qual Pac’s Frito-Lay dedicated facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role leads the Shipping & Receiving team and ensures accurate inventory management, timely movement of materials, efficient warehouse operations, and compliance with customer and company requirements. The position calls for experience managing shipping and receiving in a manufacturing, packaging, or distribution environment, with an emphasis on safety, inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement. The manager works with Production, Inventory, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to keep materials available for production schedules, and serves as a key contact for customer logistics teams, transportation providers, and internal departments. The role is on-site, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with additional hours or weekend work as business needs require.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or inventory operations.
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, or distribution environment.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and/or ERP systems.
- Knowledge of inventory control, shipping procedures, receiving processes, and warehouse operations.
- Experience supervising warehouse employees and managing daily operational activities.
- Understanding of warehouse safety practices and material handling equipment.
- Ability to monitor operational performance and implement process improvements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be available to work on-site at the Charlotte, North Carolina facility.
- Must be willing to work additional hours or weekends as business needs require.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or contract packaging operations.
- Familiarity with GMPs, food safety requirements, and customer audit standards.
- Experience supporting high-volume shipping and receiving operations.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shipping, receiving, warehouse, and inventory activities.
- Ensure the accurate and timely receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of materials and finished goods.
- Coordinate shipping schedules, transportation, and carrier activities to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Monitor warehouse performance, shipping and inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee physical inventory counts, cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and inventory consolidation.
- Ensure accurate inventory transactions and compliance with Warehouse Management System (WMS) procedures.
- Manage movement of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods between departments.
- Oversee handling and shipment of rejected products, returns, and donations.
- Lead, train, and develop Shipping & Receiving employees; set daily priorities, assign responsibilities, and monitor performance.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations, coach employees, and address performance concerns.
- Ensure employees follow company policies, procedures, and safety requirements; promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in daily operational meetings and communicate departmental performance and challenges to the Plant Manager.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, warehouse safety procedures, GMPs, Food Defense requirements, and applicable Frito-Lay standards.
- Support internal audits, customer inspections, and corrective action initiatives, and conduct accident and incident investigations as required.
- Ensure forklifts and material handling equipment are properly maintained and safely operated.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse environment.
- Monitor department KPIs, including inventory accuracy, shipping accuracy, on-time shipments, and productivity.
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes, reduce errors, and increase efficiency; use Lean Manufacturing and root cause analysis tools to resolve issues.
- Collaborate with Production, Inventory, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure materials are available for production schedules.
- Serve as a key contact for customer logistics teams, transportation providers, and internal departments.
- Implement process improvements that support customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and cost control.
