The Shipping/Receiving/Inventory role is responsible for receiving, verifying, and documenting incoming materials and finished products shipped to customers. The role moves raw materials to assigned locations, receives parts, equipment, and other goods, and documents them in the central computer system. Shipping and Receiving includes the Material Handler sub-role, which assists the Supervisor and Director of Operations with receiving, controlling, storing, and issuing purchased or intercompany-transferred inventory. The Material Handler also releases material against work orders for all product lines and performs other duties as required. The department also includes Inventory/Consumption Coordinator roles, which are cross-trained for shipping and receiving duties. These roles perform inventory work as business demands, order materials, support the Shipping Manager, document scrap or returned material, and may support the Director of Program Management on department-related matters. The work is performed on a shop floor or in an office on the shop floor. The environment is fast-paced and requires multitasking; the position may involve standing or sitting for long periods. Company-provided training includes ongoing safety training, enterprise-wide initiatives such as Plex, targeted functional training, potential cross-training in related departmental duties, and internal forklift certification.
