About The Position

This is a fast-paced & high-energy environment requiring the individual to possess multitasking abilities, excellent communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to organize and prioritize. The primary function will be the coordination of our incoming and outgoing freight. The role involves verifying and ensuring the accuracy of all Multimatic and supplier-owned returnable containers (totes, racks, pallets, lids, and bins, etc.). The position also includes supervisory responsibilities for Forklift Drivers & Material Handlers/Water Spiders, monitoring containers to contain shipping costs, and operating equipment safely and effectively.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Personal computer skills in a Windows environment, including proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Traffic and logistics experience.
  • Must speak, read, and write fluent English.
  • Self-motivated and able to work under limited supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to add and subtract three-digit numbers and multiply and divide.
  • Ability to use units of US dollars, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to use micrometers and dial calipers.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems in standardized situations.
  • Must obtain a forklift license and complete crane training.
  • High forklift skill level, including ability to drive and load in confined spaces such as rail cars, trailers, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with shipping & receiving processes & procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing freight.
  • Verify and ensure the accuracy of all Multimatic and supplier-owned returnable containers (totes, racks, pallets, lids and bins, etc).
  • Ensure data accuracy.
  • Adhere to tight shipping timelines & customer requirements.
  • Work with vendors, carriers, and materials analyst to enhance freight utilization.
  • Minimize freight costs and control inventory levels.
  • Optimize all loads (inbound and outbound) and find the best-priced carrier.
  • Assist with securing annual freight contracts as needed.
  • Instruct and direct all activities with Forklift Drivers & Material Handlers/Water Spiders.
  • Monitor Multimatic and supplier-owned returnable containers as well as Multimatic expendable containers to contain shipping costs.
  • Operate forklift and crane equipment safely and effectively.
  • Prepare shipping documents (i.e.; BOLs, shippers, load sheets, etc.) using preferred shipping/receiving software.
  • Prepare bar code labels for shipments and scan product(s) for verification of load against load sheet as required.
  • Pull EDI releases daily.
  • Interpret release information and communicate release information via appropriate methods such as spreadsheets, email, etc. for production and inventory control maintenance.
  • Send ASNs to customers within customer’s acceptable time window.
  • Process materials-received paperwork according to procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
