About The Position

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA. We are seeking a Shipping Coordinator to coordinate activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment. Compiles and maintains records of quantity, type and value of material, equipment, merchandise, or supplies stocked in establishment. This role will be responsible for running the pick plan and determines picking locations for orders based on customer specifications at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • One year of related experience in warehouse or distribution center facility.
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word; ability to quickly and accurately type and enter data; knowledge of touch-typing system preferred.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, work extended schedule, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules. Ensures that finished product is shipped in accordance with QC specifications.
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments.
  • Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
  • Physically inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors.
  • Staffs the truck desk, including preparing BOL, scheduling shipping appointments, dispatching trucks, maintaining appointment log, sending proper paperwork to customers, and creating any necessary labels for shipments.
