The Shift Supervisor in Residential Services is a semi-professional position that will work on a team in the management and supervision of individuals served in a residential program with developmental disabilities. An employee in this position will constantly act in a manner that will keep inclusion, quality of life, and self-determination as the primary goals for each person they support. An employee in this class provides support and training to assigned individuals served in dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, house cleaning, laundry, and other activities of daily living. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the purchasing of groceries, training in meal planning and food preparation, administering medications, and assisting in the management of personal funds. In the absence of the Program Supervisor and Team Manager, the Shift Supervisor functions as a supervisor for an assigned team in implementing and coordinating all activities within the home in the provision of active habilitation programming including, but not limited to, improving client self help skills, economic self sufficiency, socialization, leisure skills, mobility, communication, etc. Work involves overall responsibility for the health and well-being of individuals served, insuring staff coverage, reporting and recording observations, circulating and implementing directives, and for maintaining necessary records and reports. Supervision is received from a Team Manager and Program Supervisor or other professional staff member; however, the employee is expected to exercise independent judgment and initiative within the limit of established policies and procedures.
