About The Position

CoreCivic is seeking a Shift Supervisor to supervise administrative and operational security activities and staff on a specific shift in a secure institutional facility. The role oversees security staff and inmates or residents, supports staffing and recruiting needs, and contributes to personnel decisions and effective facility resource management. The position is listed at $71,050.00 or more per year.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent.
• Three years of experience in a criminal justice field or another acceptable related field, including two years in a supervisory capacity; additional education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Completion of basic pre-service correctional officer training.
• Where applicable, a commissioned security officer license in the state of employment.
• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of correctional facility management practices and principles, pertinent corrections laws, rules and regulations, and the principles and practices of supervision and training.
• Must be at least 20 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise and manage security staff and inmates/residents on the shift in carrying out their duties.
• Ensure adequate staffing in supervised areas and fill in as needed during short staffing.
• Participate in recruiting, hiring, orienting staff, and addressing other staffing needs in supervised areas.
• Make recommendations concerning personnel matters.
• Assist with effective management of facility resources.
