About The Position

CoreCivic is seeking a Shift Supervisor to oversee administrative and operational security activities and staff during a specific shift in a secure facility. The role involves directly supervising security staff and inmates/residents as they perform their duties, ensuring adequate staffing in assigned areas and filling in during staffing shortages. The Shift Supervisor also participates in recruiting, hiring, and orienting staff, addresses other staffing needs, makes recommendations on personnel matters, and helps manage facility resources effectively.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent.
• Three years of experience in a criminal justice field or another acceptable related field, including two years in a supervisory capacity. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Completion of basic pre-service correctional officer training.
• Where applicable, a commissioned security officer license from the state of employment.
• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of correctional facility management practices and principles, pertinent corrections laws, rules and regulations, and the principles and practices of supervision and training.
• Must be at least 20 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Participate in recruiting, hiring, and orienting staff and address other staffing needs in supervised areas.
