About The Position

The Shift Supervisor directs associates’ activities during an assigned shift and oversees completion of their job expectations while ensuring policies and procedures are maintained. The role includes training associates, creating schedules, evaluating performance, preparing reports, and helping the unit meet quality, productivity, and safety expectations. The supervisor may also mentor employees and support their professional development. This is a full-time position at the University of Pittsburgh, located at 3921 O'Hara Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15260. Days and hours may vary; further schedule details are provided during the interview. The position pays $23.00 to $25.00 per hour. Prior cooking and supervisory experience is required. Because the work is in an educational facility, there may be periods when work is not required during school breaks; such periods may be unpaid temporary layoffs. Depending on business needs, year-round work may be required, potentially at another location during break periods.

Responsibilities

Direct associates’ activities during an assigned shift and oversee completion of assigned job expectations while maintaining policies and procedures.
Provide training and create work schedules.
Evaluate worker performance, reward high performers, and discipline employees who fail to meet reasonable work standards.
Prepare production or sales reports for management.
Ensure the unit meets quality, productivity, and safety expectations.
Serve as the contact person for employees with complaints or requests for time off.
Mentor and develop employees and encourage them to set goals and pursue advancement within the organization.
Perform other duties as assigned.
