Claremont - Shift Supervisor
About The Position
As a Team Lead (Shift Supervisor) at Philz, you supervise daily shift activities and support a dynamic team. You motivate and inspire team members, model superior customer service and drink quality, and contribute to a welcoming environment while embodying Philz’s core values: Obsess Over Customers & Team, In Pursuit of Better, and Be Kind & Keep it Real. The role includes handcrafting coffee alongside Baristas, building relationships with customers and the local community, assessing team performance, supporting training and hiring, assisting with store operations and administrative duties, and helping implement and maintain safety programs. The workplace is described as inclusive, fun, creative, and vibrant, with flexibility in scheduling. The starting base hourly rate is estimated at $22.55–$24.55. Team Members participate in a tip pool and may earn an average of $5.00 additional per hour. Benefits and support programs are also offered.
Requirements
- Passion for people and willingness to learn.
- Ability to operate a variety of machines, tools, and equipment.
- Visual acuity to make general observations regarding safety and work accuracy.
- Ability to remain stationary for at least 3 hours.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and kneel.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds intermittently and lift 3 pounds to shoulder height repetitively.
- Ability to grasp, finger, and reach.
- Ability to express or exchange information verbally.
Nice To Haves
- Previous supervisory experience in a fast-paced food and beverage environment is preferred.
- Previous barista experience is not required; training is provided.
Responsibilities
- Assign team members to appropriate roles based on their strengths and shift needs.
- Handcraft drinks alongside Baristas and model quality work.
- Develop relationships with customers and the local community.
- Assess team members’ performance, including service and drink quality.
- Hold team members accountable to scheduled shifts, ensure called-out shifts are covered, and ensure breaks and lunches are provided.
- Communicate team member performance to Store Leaders and other Shift Supervisors.
- Support promotions and train new hires in-store.
- Assist the Store Leader with operational and administrative duties.
- Help implement and maintain Philz safety programs.
