About The Position

The Shift Leader will lead a team dedicated to rocket engine assembly as part of Blue Origin Operations, supporting manufacturing and supply chain activities. The role requires technical expertise, leadership, and a commitment to quality and safety, with attention to safe and repeatable spaceflight. The Shift Leader will also help improve rocket engine component design, maintenance, refurbishment, assembly procedures, and processes.

The position is listed for Shift B, Monday through Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The posting also states that the employee must be willing to work all shifts, with the schedule potentially varying based on hardware and testing needs. Overtime and weekend work may be necessary.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.

• Willingness to work all shifts.
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs and lift and carry 50 pounds for limited durations.
• Flexibility to work overtime and weekends when necessary.

Nice To Haves

• Experience operating heavy lifting equipment, such as cranes and forklifts, around flight-critical hardware.
• Knowledge of drawing and work-order review and familiarity with inventory and issue-tracking systems.
• Experience with wire harnesses, torque tools, and ESD handling.

Responsibilities

• Manage personnel, including recruiting, quarterly performance reviews, coaching, work schedules, labor hours, and overtime.
• Promote teamwork and positive employee morale.
• Manage resource projections and personnel assignments to meet demanding schedules.
• Provide hardware delivery status updates at daily schedule meetings.
• Develop training and ensure team members' training records are accurate.
• Interface with engineers to improve assembly procedures and processes.
• Work with engineering to develop assembly processes and evaluate equipment, safety, and cost.
• Ensure products meet quality standards and released engineering requirements.
• Maintain stock of consumable items.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and calibrated.
• Ensure proper 5S and foreign object debris (FOD) controls are in place and followed.
• Work safely with hazardous chemicals and high pressure.
