About The Position

This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies within the Sheriff’s Department. The anticipated life of the employment list is six months. Current vacancy is with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department located in Visalia. The anticipated life of the list is six months. Please note, our policy contains personal appearance standards which include prohibiting visible tattoos above the collar line or below the wrist. We ask that all applicants be able to meet this requirement. This position is eligible for a 4% Cost of Living Increase effective 06/28/2026.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college with major coursework in public or business administration or closely related field.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in vehicle management and purchasing operations.
  • Math functions sufficient to calculate percentages, decimals, and fractions.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Work and communicate effectively with people of various educational and socioeconomic backgrounds by respecting beliefs, interpersonal styles and behaviors of both clients and co-workers.
  • Operate contemporary office equipment inclusive of computer, keyboard, and all applicable electronic equipment.
  • Speak effectively before groups explaining and interpreting technical information.
  • Write clearly and concisely using correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct one or more phases of the Sheriff’s Office vehicle fleet management.
  • Oversee and report GPS/Telematics weekly, including safety analytics, seat belt on/off, idle, harsh acceleration, braking, cornering, vehicle activity, and vehicle location summary.
  • Oversee and report Vehicle Maintenance, preventative maintenance, registration, fuel consumption and driver history for all Sheriff’s Office Vehicles.
  • Organize and oversee the installation of GPS, Police Radio, LoJack/Spireon, Teletrac and keeping records of Sheriff’s Capital assets as they pertain to vehicles and or use of vehicles.
  • Research and coordinate purchase of replacement vehicles from dealerships in local area.
