About The Position

Denver Language School (DLS) is a public, tuition-free language immersion charter school in East Denver offering Spanish and Mandarin Chinese immersion. The Shelving Assistant supports library staff by stocking shelves, accepting and moving library orders, maintaining and cleaning the library, and reshelving returned books. The role may occasionally involve interacting with and helping students ages 4–10, and requires effective communication with families, students, teachers, and librarians.

The assistant works at the Whiteman campus and assists the Whiteman Librarian while reporting to the Whiteman campus Principal. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 189 days, for 2.5 hours daily, with estimated hours of 7:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. The position is part-time and pays $20.50 per hour. For SY26–27, the posting estimates 121 contact days at 2.5 hours per day beginning November 2, 2026, for an estimated prorated total of $6,202.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Can comfortably carry and lift 50–100 pounds on a regular basis.
• Comfortable walking, standing, and performing moderate physical activity for up to 2.5 hours at a time.

Responsibilities

• Carry boxes from book orders.
• Help maintain and clean the library.
• Reshelve books that are returned.
• Communicate effectively with families, students, teachers, and librarians.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Support the library staff by stocking shelves and accepting and moving library orders.
• On occasion, interact with and help students ages 4–10.
