About The Position

The SGA Student Life Issues Director reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for chairing the Student Life Affairs Committee and the Parking Advisory Board. This role involves co-chairing the Dining Advisory Board and organizing a tenant education campaign and an Off-Campus Housing Fair. The Director serves as a resource for students with off-campus housing concerns and proactively addresses student life policies and concerns outside the scope of other executives. A key aspect of this role is developing a working relationship with the Dean of Students Office and other Student Affairs leadership. The position requires attending Student Government Association Senate and Executive Staff meetings, serving a minimum of 10 hours per week in the SGA Office or related work, and documenting transitional material for the next person in the role, including an updated contact list.

Requirements

  • Currently employed or enrolled as a student at any of the Universities of Wisconsin.
  • Must apply through the internal application process via Workday if currently employed or enrolled.
  • Serve a minimum of 10 hours per week in the SGA Office or related work meeting on campus, with the exception of Student Senate.
  • Documentation must be typed, emailed, and stored in the Student Government Association email account, as well as handed over for the next person in the role.
  • Transitional materials must also include an updated list of contacts at the last meeting of the executive's term.
  • An offer of employment will require a criminal background check and authorization to work within the United States as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

Responsibilities

  • Chair the Student Life Affairs Committee and the Parking Advisory Board on a regular basis.
  • Co-chair the Dining Advisory Board with the Residence Hall Association on a regular basis.
  • Organize a tenant education campaign each fall semester.
  • Organize the “Off-Campus Housing Fair” in the Fall and Spring Semester.
  • Serve as a resource for students with off campus housing questions/concerns.
  • Proactively work on student life policies and concerns that do not fall into the categories of the other Executives.
  • Develop a working relationship with the Dean of Students Office and other Student Affairs leadership.
  • Attend the Student Government Association Senate and the Executive Staff meetings.
  • Serve a minimum of 10 hours per week in the SGA Office or related work meeting on campus, with the exception of Student Senate.
  • Meet at a minimum of once near the end of each semester with the Executive Director to specifically discuss and document transitional material including semester accomplishments and helpful tips.
  • Document transitional materials must be typed, emailed, and stored in the Student Government Association email account, as well as handed over for the next person in the role.
  • Transitional materials must also include an updated list of contacts at the last meeting of the executive's term.
  • Other duties as assigned.
