About The Position

The SGA Inclusivity Director is a student hourly position reporting to the Executive Director. This role involves chairing the Inclusivity Committee, proactively addressing inclusivity and diversity concerns, and serving as a resource for students with civil rights concerns. The director will develop relationships with student organizations, collaborate on retention plans for students of color and LGBTQ+ students, and provide leadership to foster an open and positive environment. Responsibilities include attending and developing inclusivity and diversity events, coordinating and promoting training, and serving on university committees as a representative of the Student Government Association. The role requires collaboration with fellow directors for campus-wide observation days and attendance at SGA Senate and Executive Staff meetings. A minimum of 10 hours per week is expected in the SGA Office or related work, with specific documentation and transitional material handover required at the end of each semester.

Responsibilities

  • Chair the Inclusivity Committee
  • Proactively address inclusivity and diversity concerns, policy issues, or legal issues
  • Serve as a resource for students with civil rights concerns and incident reports
  • Develop relationships with and meet regularly with leaders from all the inclusivity and diversity related student organizations
  • Work in collaboration with Diversity and College Access in developing a retention plan for the retention of students of color and LGBTQ+ students
  • Provide leadership to ensure an open and positive environment for all people to flourish in the University and community
  • Attend and develop inclusivity and diversity events, meetings, and programs as a representative of the Student Government Association
  • Coordinate, provide and promote inclusivity and diversity training for the Student Government Association and students
  • When delegated, serve as the Vice President’s appointee on University inclusivity and diversity committees, task forces, and work groups
  • Collaborate with fellow directors to plan events regarding campuswide observation days
  • Attend the Student Government Association Senate and the Executive Staff meetings
  • Serve a minimum of 10 hours per week in the SGA Office or related work meeting on campus, with the exception of Student Senate
  • Meet at a minimum of once near the end of each semester with the Executive Director to specifically discuss and document transitional material including semester accomplishments and helpful tips
  • Documentation must be typed, emailed, and stored in the Student Government Association email account, as well as handed over for the next person in the role
  • Transitional materials must also include an updated list of contacts at the last meeting of the executive's term
  • Other duties as assigned
