About The Position

This posting is for a Sessional Lecturer position for the HAD3020H – Quality Improvement Methods course within the MSc in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety program. The course focuses on concepts and methods for quality improvement in healthcare, building on Improvement Science basics. It covers the design and implementation of quality improvement projects, assessment of organizational and team enablers, common methods, tools, and measurement techniques for improving healthcare delivery, and strategies for sustaining and spreading change. Specific methods covered include Experience-Based Co-design and Statistical Process Control. The appointment is for the Fall 2026 session, from September to December.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in quality improvement in health care, preferably with leadership, implementation, and evaluation experience including corporate operations and oversight up to Board level.
  • A robust understanding of the role of quality improvement in the Canadian healthcare system.
  • Past teaching experience related to quality improvement, patient safety and innovation, at the graduate level.
  • Prior experience in curriculum development and adult teaching-learning methods.
  • Experience working in more applied settings including for example as a preceptor.
  • Comfortable with electronic teaching tools such as Learning Management Systems (e.g., Quercus), PowerPoint, as well as on-line collaboration tools (Blogs, Wikkis, Discussion Boards, Webinars, or Video-conferencing).

Responsibilities

  • Co-Course instructor for a professional graduate course using competency-based learning and assessment methods.
  • Must be accessible to students outside of classroom hours.
  • Available evenings and weekends.
