About The Position

This position is for a Sessional Lecturer to teach JAV130H1F: Visual Strategies. This course is an introduction to diverse mediums and topics for exploration with an emphasis on experimentation and conceptual development. Students will acquire manual skills used in the production of contemporary visual art and are encouraged to explore their own individual artistic and research processes. The estimated course enrollment is 25 students, with no estimated TA support. The sessional dates of appointment are from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.

Requirements

• MA or MFA (or equivalent graduate degree) required
• Previous teaching experience
• Strong exhibition history
• Currently exhibiting artist
• Applicants may be asked to supply references

Responsibilities

• Preparation and delivery of course material
• Managing digital teaching materials and platform
• Supervision of teaching assistants
• Preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations and deferred final examinations
• Marking of student work

• Student contact hours
