About The Position

This position is for a Sessional Lecturer for the PLID50H3 - Speech Perception course for the Fall 2026 semester. The course examines the acoustics and perception of human speech, exploring how humans cope with variation in the auditory signal, infant language acquisition, speech perception mechanisms, and how the brain encodes and represents speech sounds. Emphasis will be placed on hands-on experience with experimental data analysis.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Speech Language Pathology, Audiology, Neuroscience, Linguistics, Language Acquisition or closely related field
  • Familiarity with statistics or statistical concepts
  • Strong academic record and professional promise

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience in upper-level courses desired
  • Previous involvement with PLID50H3 or a comparable course is preferred
  • Previous teaching experience is preferred over previous TA experience

Responsibilities

  • All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content
  • Development, administration and marking of assignments
  • Calculation and submission of grades
  • Holding regular office hours

Benefits

  • In accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the stipend rate for a half course (Y, F or S), inclusive of vacation pay, will be: Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.47, Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term: $10,699.21, Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.21, Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term: $10,953.96, Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.95, Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term: $11,228.90
