About The Position

The last 2.5 million years has seen the repeated formation of large continental ice sheets over North America and Europe. The course will review the geologic and geomorphologic record of past glacial and interglacial climates, the formation and flow of ice sheets, and modern day cold-climate processes in Canada's north. The course includes a one-day field trip to examine the glacial record of the GTA. The estimated course enrollment is 25 students, with TA support consistent with enrollment provided. Lectures are scheduled for Thursdays from 5 PM to 7 PM at the UTSC campus. Applicants must be available during these times as the lecture schedule cannot be adjusted. The sessional dates of appointment are from September 1, 2026, to December 21, 2026.

Requirements

  • PhD in Geology, Environmental Earth Science or a related field
  • experience in the field of Glacial Geology or Glacial Sedimentology
  • familiar with instructional computer technology (i.e., Quercus)

Nice To Haves

  • University teaching experience preferred
  • Technical and pedagogical competencies in relation to the online delivery of courses would be an asset
  • Previous experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position
