About The Position

This position is for a Sessional Lecturer to teach modules equivalent to 0.1 FCE (20% of the section) for the course CSC2702HY, LEC5101 and LEC5201 - Technical Entrepreneurship - Securing the Return Offer, Elegant Exit & Next Steps. This course is part of the MScAc degree program, which aims to develop technical leaders who can transfer new ideas and technologies from academia to industry. The course introduces fundamental business and management concepts relevant to students interested in starting their own businesses or bringing new ideas to fruition within existing ones. It also equips students with practical experience in presenting and defending their scientific research through various activities and communications. The course has an estimated maximum enrollment of 60 students per section. The delivery methods include in-person and hybrid (in-person with online output delivery) with synchronous online access. The appointment is for the Fall session (September 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026), specifically from October 12, 2026, to November 15, 2025. The salary is prorated based on the 0.1 FCE load.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in a STEM or relevant field required.
  • Demonstrated superior communication skills required.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience in progressively senior leadership roles within companies, preferably in roles that have included hiring STEM graduate roles with R&D teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated evidence of extensive experience in a technology company or technology and innovation focused environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Planning the lectures, tutorials, assignments, tests, and marking schemes associated with the module.
  • Maintaining a module website.
  • Delivering module material.
  • Providing appropriate contact time outside of class to students, through office hours, email, the module website and/or the module e-bulletin board.
  • Assisting with preparing the breakdown of TA hours and supervising the TA(s) (if applicable).
  • Managing the assessment of the module and invigilating the final exam (if applicable).
  • Managing and submitting all module grades, including the timely completion and release of grades and feedback to students throughout the term.
  • Consulting with the MScAC Program Team when creating the syllabus, assignments, and final exam/test(s).
  • Getting approval from faculty members or the Academic Director, Professional Programs for any substantial changes to the module content or assessment methods.
