Sessional Lecturer - CSC2701HY - Teamwork & Mindful Communication module
About The Position
This position is for a Sessional Lecturer to teach a module within the CSC2701HY – Communication for Computer Scientists – Teamwork & Mindful Communication course. The MScAc degree program aims to develop technical leaders who can bridge the gap between academic research and industry innovation. The hired lecturer will be responsible for a module equivalent to 0.10 FCE within a co-taught course, with an estimated enrolment of up to 40 students per section. The course delivery is currently hybrid and may be subject to change. The appointment is for the Fall session, specifically from September 1, 2026, to November 15, 2026.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or closely related STEM field.
- Demonstrated formal and extensive experience of career coaching of students with advanced backgrounds in STEM disciplines.
- Demonstrated superior communication skills required.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.
- Experience and evidence of teaching communication methods, including writing, public speaking and interpersonal communications to students with advanced backgrounds in STEM subjects.
Nice To Haves
- Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching preferred.
Responsibilities
- Planning the lectures, tutorials, assignments, tests, and marking schemes associated with the module.
- Maintaining a module website.
- Delivering module material in lectures and tutorials.
- Providing appropriate contact time outside of class to students, through office hours, email, the module website and/or the module e-bulletin board.
- Assisting with preparing the breakdown of TA hours and supervising the TA(s) (if applicable).
- Managing the assessment of the module and invigilating the final exam (if applicable).
- Managing and submitting all module grades, including the timely completion and release of grades and feedback to students throughout the term.
- Following basic content and style used by faculty members who normally teach the course.
- Getting approval from faculty members or the Academic Director of Professional Programs for any substantial changes to the course content or assessment methods.
- Consulting with the MScAC Program team when creating the course syllabus, assignments, tests, and if applicable - a final exam.
