About The Position

LGGA10H3 - Beginner Korean I - Fall 2026. This is an introductory course to the Korean language designed for students with no or minimal knowledge of the language. The course will cover the Hangeul alphabet, word construction, basic grammar patterns, frequently used vocabulary, and common everyday topics. Weekly cultural titbits will be introduced to assist and enrich the language learning experience. The overall aim of the course is to provide students with a strong grasp of the basics of the Korean language and elements of contemporary Korean culture.

Requirements

  • Native or near-native fluency in Korean.
  • M.A. in Korean languages, Linguistics, Teaching a Foreign Language, Second Language Acquisition, or equivalent.
  • ABD (Ph. D.) preferred.
  • Experience teaching LGGA10H3 or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching Korean language courses at the introductory or intermediate levels in the university setting.

Responsibilities

  • All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.
