About The Position

St Thomas More College (STM), the Catholic liberal arts college federated with the University of Saskatchewan, invites applications for sessional lecturer positions for the 2026-2027 Fall and Winter sessions across various departments including English, History, Languages, Literatures, & Cultural Studies, Philosophy, Religion & Culture, Political Studies, Psychology, The Irene and Doug Schmeiser Centre for Faith, Reason, Peace, and Justice, and Sociology. The application process requires specific documentation for new and returning candidates, including a cover letter, CV, transcripts, teaching evaluations, and reference letters. Requirements

  • For new candidates: a cover letter specifying courses, describing teaching and research strengths, and stating a ranked order of teaching preference if applying for multiple courses.
  • For new candidates: a current curriculum vitae with current contact information.
  • For new candidates: a written response to the STM Mission Statement.
  • For new candidates: copies of transcripts of qualifying degree.
  • For new candidates: teaching dossier, including copies of most recent teaching evaluations (student and peer).
  • For new candidates: a response to comments from student evaluations.
  • For new candidates: two letters of reference, specifying teaching-related experience (sent directly to the Department Head).
  • For returning candidates: a cover letter specifying courses, describing teaching and research strengths, and stating a ranked order of teaching preference if applying for multiple courses.
  • For returning candidates: an updated curriculum vitae with current contact information (do not use STM email or mailing address as primary contact).
  • For returning candidates: copies of most recent teaching evaluations (student and peer, including below threshold SLEQs).
  • For returning candidates: a response to comments from student evaluations.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in the discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in the area of the course is expected.
  • Candidates with a Master’s Degree and appropriate experience will also be considered.
  • St. Thomas More College recognizes seniority of sessional lecturers in accordance with Article 5.1.10.8 of its Collective Agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching as described in Article 14.2.3
  • Marking assignments and examinations
  • Supervising the work of marking assistants (if applicable)
  • Holding regular office hours
