The course communicates the growing field of "girl studies" and provides a critical exploration of the historical, social, psychological and political definitions attached to girlhood. We will move toward a feminist understanding of how definitions of girl-child shape individual experience, historical narratives, cultural representations, political agendas and futures. The estimated enrolment is 100 students, with an estimated TA support of 180 hours. The class schedule is Wednesday 13:00-15:00. The delivery method for this course is currently 100% in person, but may change as determined by the Faculty of Arts and Science or the Women and Gender Studies Institute. The sessional dates of appointment are September 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026.
