About The Position

This posting is for a Sessional Lecturer position in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto Mississauga for the Fall 2026 academic session. The course, PHL420H5, will involve an advanced discussion of principal figures and themes in 19th and 20th century philosophy. The position is tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolments, and is in accordance with the Collective Agreement between The Governing Council of the University of Toronto and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3902 Unit 3. Applications are being accepted from members of the Department’s Applicant Pool who have applied within the last thirty-six months. Interested candidates must submit a CUPE 3902 application form, a cover letter, and an updated curriculum vitae.

Requirements

  • PhD in-hand, preferably in philosophy.
  • Prior experience as a course instructor, preferably in Philosophy at U of T.
  • Advanced prior knowledge of the subject matter of the course and topic-related teaching experience.

  • Related research and a record of research achievement is considered an asset to this position.

Responsibilities

  • All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.
  • Completion of any course grading not already finished by December, 2026.
